TAK-HACK - Hacking the Human Machine Interface for the Military and First Responders!
</aside>
TAK-HACK26 brings together innovators, technologists, Defence personnel, first responders and problem-solvers to tackle operational challenges using the TAK ecosystem.
Over an intensive 54-hour innovation sprint, participants will work in teams to design, build and present solutions to a real-world capability challenge. This is more than a weekend of coding; it is an opportunity to work alongside operators, industry experts and mentors to explore how technology can improve decision-making, coordination and situational awareness in complex environments.
The Challenge
Each year, participants are challenged to solve a practical problem drawn from Defence and public safety, policing and security environments.
The 2026 challenge statement is:
"How might we use TAK to better enable multiple agencies/organisations to deconflict resources, coordinate response actions and maintain shared situational awareness during a rapidly evolving incident occurring within a major event precinct or densely populated urban gathering?”
Whether your background is software development, engineering, design, Defence, emergency services or emerging technology, TAK-HACK is an opportunity to apply your skills to a problem that matters.
Throughout the weekend, teams will work alongside mentors, operators and technical experts while exploring the capabilities of ATAK, CivTAK and the broader TAK ecosystem. Used globally across Defence, emergency services and public safety organisations, TAK enables greater situational awareness, coordination and mission execution in complex environments.
Welcome to the challenge. We’re glad you’re here
